ABOUT / CV:

Fiona North was born in England in 1957 and moved to Aberdeen in 1960. After studying and gaining an HNC in Fine art she progressed onto painting at Gray’s School of Art in Aberdeen, where Fiona continues to live and work there.

In my work I try to capture the atmosphere found within the different spaces we experience in life. The powerfully evocative feeling of absence we sense within abandoned and empty buildings where the past and memories linger, in contrast to the intimate space of figure(s) pre-occupied in everyday situations.

Light perspective and mood are an important factor in my work which I try to convey by using a subtle colour palette.
